When You Need a
Locksmith in Charlotte

Getting locked out of your home, car, or business is something most people encounter at least once. A key breaks off in a lock, a door closes behind you with the keys on the other side, or a lock mechanism fails at the worst possible time. These situations are inconvenient regardless of when they happen, and having a reliable locksmith to call makes the difference between a short interruption and a prolonged problem.

Charlotte Locksmith provides on-call locksmith service for residential, automotive, and commercial situations across Charlotte and the surrounding communities. Our technicians are NC state licensed, carry the tools and hardware to handle most common lock situations on a single visit, and provide a written price before starting any work.

We cover lockouts, broken key extraction, lock replacement, rekeying, and automotive key programming for most domestic and import vehicles. Whether the situation involves your front door, your car, or a commercial property, our goal is to arrive equipped to resolve it in one visit so you can get back to your day.

What We Cover

Emergency Locksmith
Services We Provide

Our technicians handle the most common lock and key situations that require prompt attention. All services are provided on-site throughout Charlotte and the surrounding areas.

01

House Lockout Service

Locked out of your home is one of the most common calls we receive. Our technicians use professional pick and entry tools to open residential deadbolts, knob locks, and lever locks without damaging the door or hardware. Once inside, we can rekey or replace the lock on the same visit if needed. Learn more about our house lockout service.

02

Car Lockout Service

Keys locked inside your vehicle, a broken door lock, or a fob that has stopped working are all situations we handle across Charlotte. Our automotive technicians use professional entry tools selected for your specific vehicle make and door construction to gain access without marking the paint or damaging weather stripping. See our car lockout service.

03

Apartment Lockout Service

Being locked out of your apartment at any hour is a situation that needs a straightforward resolution. Our technicians provide residential entry for apartment units with standard deadbolts, knob locks, and lever locks. We work cleanly and efficiently, and can rekey the unit on the same visit if you need to restrict access to previous key copies. Details on our apartment lockout service.

04

Office & Commercial Lockout

A locked office, retail location, or commercial property can bring operations to a halt. Our technicians handle commercial lock situations for most standard commercial door hardware including cylindrical locks, mortise locks, and grade-1 deadbolts. We can also rekey or upgrade locks on the same visit. Read about our office lockout service.

05

Broken Key Extraction

A key that snaps off inside a door lock or ignition cylinder leaves you with two problems at once: the lock is blocked and you no longer have a working key. Our technicians carry precision extraction tools for both door locks and ignition cylinders and can remove the broken piece in most cases without drilling. A replacement key can be cut on the same visit once the fragment is cleared.

06

Lock Change & Rekey

After a lockout, a lost key, a move into a new property, or a change in who has access to a building, having a locksmith rekey or replace your locks is a straightforward way to control who can enter. Rekeying is typically faster and lower in cost than a full lock replacement, and results in a completely new key that will not operate the old copies. We carry common lock brands and grades for replacement where needed.

Residential Service

Home Lockouts &
Residential Lock Service

Residential locksmith calls come in many forms. The most straightforward is a lockout from a home entry door. Others involve a lock that has been damaged, a key that has stopped turning smoothly, or a property that needs rekeying after a tenant change or a lost key. Our residential locksmith technicians handle all of these situations with the same standard process: assess the situation on arrival, confirm a price before starting work, and complete the job with the tools and hardware already on the vehicle.

For homeowners who are considering upgrading their door hardware at the same time as a service call, we carry standard residential deadbolts and knob locks in common finishes, as well as smart lock options for those looking to move to keypad or app-based entry. An on-site visit is a practical time to review the existing hardware and discuss whether a change makes sense.

  • Entry door lockout service with non-destructive opening methods
  • Deadbolt, knob lock, and lever lock replacement and installation
  • Rekeying for any number of locks to a single new key
  • Smart lock installation and configuration for most popular brands
  • Broken key extraction from door locks without drilling where possible
  • Service for single-family homes, townhomes, and apartment units
Automotive Service

Car Lockouts &
Key Replacement

Vehicle locksmith situations range from keys locked inside a car to a completely lost key set for a late-model vehicle with a push-button start system. Our automotive technicians handle both ends of that range and most situations in between. Our full range of automotive locksmith services covers key cutting and programming for most domestic and import vehicles.

For car lockouts, we use professional automotive entry tools matched to your specific vehicle type, working carefully to avoid any contact with paint, glass, or door seals. For key replacement, we carry a broad range of key blanks and transponder chips and have the programming interfaces needed to produce a working key on-site for most vehicles currently on the road. We also offer dedicated car key replacement service for lost or damaged keys.

  • Vehicle entry using professional tools without paint or seal damage
  • Transponder key programming for most domestic and import vehicles
  • Key fob replacement and programming for keyless entry systems
  • Ignition cylinder repair, rekey, and replacement
  • Broken key extraction from door locks and ignition cylinders
  • On-site service at your location, no tow required in most cases

Business Lock &
Access Solutions

Commercial locksmith calls often have more at stake than a residential situation. A locked office, a malfunctioning storefront door lock, or a rekeying project following a personnel change can affect a whole day of business operations. Our commercial locksmith technicians work on commercial-grade cylindrical, mortise, and exit device hardware and can address most situations in a single visit.

For businesses that need to rekey multiple locks after a staff change or a key loss, we can key multiple locks to a single master key or to individual keys for different access levels. We also handle lock upgrades for storefronts, office suites, and multi-tenant buildings where existing hardware no longer meets the security requirements of the occupant.

  • Commercial door entry for offices, retail, and multi-tenant buildings
  • Cylindrical, mortise, and exit device hardware service and replacement
  • Master key system setup and rekeying for multiple locks
  • Storefront lock replacement and upgrade
  • After-hours availability for commercial situations that cannot wait

We Come to
Where You Are

All of our locksmith services are provided at your location. Whether you are at home, in a parking lot, or at your place of business, we dispatch a technician to you rather than asking you to bring your property to us. This matters most in lockout situations, where the vehicle or property you need to access is the thing keeping you from getting anywhere else.

We serve Charlotte and the surrounding communities including Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Harrisburg, Mooresville, Indian Trail, Waxhaw, Belmont, and Mecklenburg County broadly. When you call, we confirm your location and the service needed so the right technician arrives with the correct tools and hardware on the first visit.

How It Works

Our Service
Process

Every call follows the same straightforward process so you know what to expect from the moment you phone through to job completion.

1

Call With Your Location

Tell us where you are, what type of property or vehicle is involved, and what happened. This lets us confirm we can help and gives the technician the information needed to arrive prepared.

2

Technician Dispatched

We dispatch the nearest available technician to your location. You will receive a call from the technician to confirm arrival and address any additional questions about the situation.

3

Assessment & Written Price

On arrival, the technician assesses the lock or key situation and provides a written price for the work before anything is started. No work begins until you have agreed to the quoted price.

4

Job Completed On-Site

The technician completes the service at your location using the tools and hardware carried on the vehicle. Most situations are resolved in a single visit without the need for a return trip.

Common Questions

Emergency Locksmith
FAQs

Answers to the questions Charlotte residents and businesses ask most often about our locksmith services.

What areas of Charlotte do you serve?

We provide service throughout Charlotte and the broader Mecklenburg County area, including Huntersville, Matthews, Mint Hill, Harrisburg, Mooresville, Indian Trail, Waxhaw, and Belmont. When you call, confirm your location and we will let you know the estimated arrival time for the nearest available technician. Our full Mecklenburg County service area page has more detail on the communities we cover.

How quickly can a technician reach me?

Response time depends on your location within our service area and the current availability of technicians. When you call, we give you a realistic arrival estimate based on actual technician positions at that time rather than a number that does not account for actual conditions. Our goal is to have someone to you as soon as practically possible, but we do not quote arrival times we cannot reliably meet.

Do you provide a price before starting any work?

Yes. Our technicians provide a written price for the specific work needed before any service begins. The price you are quoted on-site is the price you pay. We do not add fees after the work is done. If the situation turns out to require a different scope of work from what was originally described on the phone, the technician will explain what is needed and confirm a new price before proceeding.

Are your technicians licensed in North Carolina?

Yes. All of our technicians hold current NC state locksmith licensing as required by the North Carolina Locksmith Licensing Board. We are also fully bonded and insured. You can ask to see credentials on arrival, and our technicians will provide them. Licensing information for our business is also available through the NC Locksmith Licensing Board's public records.

Can you open my door without damaging it?

In the majority of residential and automotive lockout situations, our technicians can open the lock without any damage to the door, frame, weather stripping, or hardware. Non-destructive entry is our standard method, and we only move to more involved approaches when the lock itself is damaged or the door construction makes non-destructive entry impossible. The technician will explain the options and expected outcome before starting.

I just moved in. Should I have my locks rekeyed?

Rekeying the locks on a property you have moved into is one of the simplest security steps available to new occupants. The previous owners, tenants, or their contacts may still have copies of the original keys, and there is no reliable way to account for all of them. Rekeying changes the internal pin configuration of the lock so only your new key will operate it, while keeping the existing hardware in place. It is typically faster and less costly than a full lock replacement. Our rekey service page has full details.
